Update: The food made us sick. Stomach has been hurting since we left, and we didn't even eat half the food apart from a few bites. Service was great, but honestly the food was a complete miss. None of it tasted fresh, it all seemed to have been frozen and just warmed up. Even the drinks like the thai tea seemed to be made from a powder. The "best" thing we had was the xi long bao and even that was just borderline ok. Everything else was flavorless or just simply not good. It was overall a really disappointing experience because the reviews say this place is great. The servers were great, but unfortunately it's not enough to save the experience. Unfortunately would not recommend.

Finally found our favorite Dough Zone spot! Even during the busy hour, they had enough staff to take care of all the guests (unlike another nearby Dough Zone). Clean, cozy, and inviting atmosphere with pleasant lounge music at the perfect volume. Food is, as always, delicious! 😋

We loved Dough Zone in Houston! The sweet and sour cucumber was refreshing, the green onion pancake was crispy and flavorful, and the vegetable potstickers were delicious. Great food and a wonderful experience!

Dough Zone. Pot stickers. Weird texture. Had the desirable crispy bottom. But the dumpling itself, the dough texture was like Pla-Doh and not pleasant. Felt and tasted like it was raw even though I know it wasn’t. Weird. Perhaps their other stuff is great but I couldn’t finish this. Tasted like it was frozen dumplings from the grocery store just heated there. I mean it tasted factory made to me. I have no doubt many dumplings restaurants premake and freeze their dumplings to be steamed or fried later, but they still taste like they’re made in-house. Didn’t get that impression at Dough Zone. I don’t know the real situation. In Houston you are up against some really spectacular dumpling places.

Here is the thing about places that have more than one location; they have to be at least good. This place is probably borderline great to be honest. Everything is well prepared and simple, clean Chinese food. The cucumbers are delicious, dumplings are all yummy and many different types, and things like the Dan Dan noodles can’t be missed. Don’t expect anything revolutionary but expect to come back because it is a solid meal every time. Shoutout to Johnny for being an amazing server every visit. Must try the pork wontons in chili oil and sweet and sour cucumber!
